25+ years in words

When I was young, I had my nose in a book day and night. I read voraciously and widely, consuming stacks of stories of all kinds. As I grew older, the words that started as my passion became my career. Today, they are my business.

I’ve been lucky to work in words for over 25 years. I started out as a writer and editor, and later led teams of creative colleagues, including communications managers, writers, editors, graphic designers, translators, social media experts and web designers. I launched my editorial business in 2019 and have been putting my skills to work for my clients ever since.

I live and work in Ottawa, Ontario. When I’m not making words or changing them around on the page, you can find me in a canoe, on a pair of cross-country skis, or hosting a snack-filled Fraggle Rock watch party.

I love what I do, and I’m equally passionate about the way I do it.

And a bit of fun
I’m serious about the quality of my work and light-hearted about most everything else. For me, the best results come with a few laughs along the way.

I write, edit and manage the development of publications on health and environmental topics.

While these areas hold most of my attention these days, I also have extensive experience and interest in emergency preparedness, human resources, transportation safety and municipal government.

In 2020, Lorie supported our organization with communication planning, content and marketing development for internal and external audiences, and other creative writing support. She listened well to understand our vision and consistently contributed creative and high-quality ideas to help us achieve our goals.
